It was such an honor to have Nancy Lopez as a guest on the Ladies Links Fore Golf Radio Show! If you were not able to listen live, don't worry, you can go to LL4G.com at any time to watch and listen to all of our shows. Nancy taught us all a couple of things about playing golf during the show.
She talked about her very first win and how her entire body was shaking over the 2 foot put that she needed to make to win the tournament. She said she wasn't sure she could take the club back. The lesson to learn here is that you can be successful and execute a shot no matter how nervous you feel. Just focus on the target or shot, not on how fast your heart is beating.
The second lesson learned was from Nancy's story about her round in her rookie year to set a record and win her 5th consecutive tournament. She was aiming her tee shot to the right because she had been hooking it on the previous holes and then she hit the ball straight. Uh oh! Her ball hit a spectator in the head and when she went over to check on him he was on the ground bleeding. When she asked how he was he said, "I'm doing great!" I'm sure he was thrilled to meet Nancy! Anyway, she was so upset, she made a double bogey on the hole. She managed to get herself together and go on to win the tournament. The lesson here is that even if something distracts you or you have a bad hole, you can recover and refocus and play well the rest of the round.
