I was in Maine recently for Ladies Links Fore Golf events and The Legends Tour. Most of the golfer's love to walk as they play golf! This may not be surprising to many of you but living in Florida for so many years, my experience has been that most golfers ride in a cart while playing golf. Most of the golf courses don't even allow walking until a certain time in the afternoon and some don't allow pull carts! I believe there are two reasons that golf courses would restrict walking: revenue and slow play. If your golf course has restrictions on walking, I encourage you to ask those in charge to consider allowing more opportunities to walk, it's great for your health.
It was motivating and inspiring to be around so many well conditioned enthusiastic golfers who get their exercise while playing golf! Even the fans of The Legends Tour walked the 7 miles to watch the competitors play all 18 holes.
Thank you to everyone I met in Maine who inspired me to play golf the way is was originally intended, using my legs instead of the foot pedal to get around the golf course! My next trip is to Colorado and I know I will have the same experience!
Walk on!!
